Cool Comforts & Warm Goodbyes

For this month’s team dinner, we chose a “Cold Vibe” theme, inspired by the summer heat and the need to refresh ourselves after warm and busy days. Since the weather has been extra hot, we thought it would be perfect to prepare something cold for our drinks and pair it with any snacks we personally enjoy. It was a simple but refreshing theme that allowed everyone to cool down, relax, and share a little comfort through food.

For my part, I intentionally went to a café to order an iced coffee, which was just perfect for the summer weather. I paired it with one of my favorite snacks, a clubhouse sandwich. The sandwich looked delicious and filling, with layers of soft bread, fresh lettuce, creamy filling, and savory slices packed neatly together. It was served with crispy chips on the side, making the whole plate feel like a cozy café treat. The iced coffee beside it completed the refreshing vibe, giving that cool and satisfying balance of snack and drink.

Coralie brought a mango cake that matched the tropical theme beautifully. The cake had a bright golden mango topping in the center, surrounded by soft, fluffy whipped cream around the edges. It looked creamy, smooth, and refreshing, with the mango giving it a sweet and fruity summer touch. It was a perfect dessert choice for the theme because mango always brings that tropical, sunny, and refreshing feeling.

Mary Griff shared mango graham bars and coffee crumble ice cream. The mango graham bars looked creamy and soft, with graham crackers layered around a rich filling, giving that classic chilled dessert feel. Beside it was the coffee crumble ice cream, topped with chocolate bits and swirls that made it look extra inviting. Her food choices gave a nice mix of sweetness, creaminess, and coffee flavor, which fit the cold vibe theme so well.

John Clark enjoyed a fresh vegetable salad and a creamy chicken-and-fries bowl paired with a cold drink. The salad looked light and refreshing, with crisp lettuce, cucumber, and small colorful vegetable pieces, making it a nice cool option for the hot weather. For his second dish, he had a hearty bowl filled with crispy chicken strips, fries, and a generous creamy white sauce on top, paired with a cold blended drink. It was a nice combination of something refreshing and something satisfying, giving both comfort and chill in one meal.

Last but not least, Juliene treated herself to halo-halo and fries. Her halo-halo looked colorful and fun, with ube, banana, green jelly, and other sweet toppings over a cold creamy base. It was the perfect summer dessert and truly one of the best choices for our cold vibe theme. The fries on the side added a simple, salty snack that balanced the sweetness of the halo-halo.

This team dinner felt extra special because it was Juliene’s last team dinner with us for now, as she will soon be working part-time. It made the gathering more meaningful, knowing that one of our colleagues may no longer be able to join the next team dinner the same way. These simple moments remind us that team dinners are not only about food, but also about connection, shared stories, and the little memories we build together.

Even though our theme was all about keeping things cool and refreshing, the heart of the dinner was still warm. We were able to enjoy our chosen snacks, share our summer cravings, and celebrate the time we still have together as a team. Juliene’s presence made this dinner even more memorable, and while we will surely miss having her in our next gatherings, we are happy to support her as she starts this new part-time journey.

This dinner will always be remembered as a sweet, refreshing, and meaningful one for the team.
